I am starting to get an idea of what I want to blog about. During the Ed Cafe in class I had the opportunity to talk about integrating blogging with math. With regards to the common core, it is important to have students explain and write about how they found their answers to math problems. I believe that blogging might be a good way to get students excited about this aspect of math. I have noticed that writing about math is a frustration for my students, so I am hoping that blogging about math problems with allow them to have a different point-of-view. At the very least, I would like to try this with my students who need to be challenged in math. I could set this up as a math center!

  1. How wonderful that you were able to walk away from the Ed Chat with an idea to use with your students. I too am inspired and am still working out an idea to use as well.

  2. I love the idea of a blogging math center! I think that is a great way to get students to think about HOW they got to the answer. I am really trying to connect literacy with math more with my students so they do not just rely on an answer, but actually look at the process they took. Right now, I am using a problem solving strategy that has students illustrate and explain their thinking so they can "prove it" but your post has me thinking about a way to incorporate what my students are already doing with blogging. Thanks for getting my wheels turning!

  3. I think this is a great idea! Kids will be extra motivated/engaged because they get to do something cool like blogging, but it will get their critical thinking skills working as well.
